Elder Care keeps your health record on your own phone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, because there is nowhere for it to be sent — the app has no account, no server, and no advertising.
Everything you enter — your medicines, readings, symptoms, doctors, appointments and the photographs of your papers — stays on this phone.
We cannot see it. Nobody can see it but you and whoever you hand the phone to.
Your record is kept in a database file inside the app's own private storage on your phone. That file is encrypted, and the key to it is held in the phone's own secure keystore (Keychain on iPhone, the Android Keystore on Android).
Files you add — a prescription photograph, a lab report, a scan — are copied into the same private storage and stay there.
Nothing, unless you send it yourself.
The app makes no network requests. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no account to sign in to. There is no server belonging to this app anywhere.
When you share a report, an emergency card or a backup file, your phone hands that one file to whichever app you pick — mail, a messaging app, a printer. What happens to it after that is governed by that app, not by this one, so choose where it goes with the same care you would give the paper itself.
When you scan a prescription or a lab report, the app reads the text using a recogniser that is built into the app itself and runs on the phone. The photograph is not uploaded, and no model is downloaded to do it.
What it reads is shown to you before anything is saved. Nothing is entered into your record until you have checked it and agreed.
The backup the app makes is a single file containing your records and your stored papers. It is not encrypted, and it can be read by anyone who opens it.
This is deliberate. Locking the backup with a password would mean a forgotten password destroys the only copy of a record, and for the people this app is built for that risk is the greater one. Keep the file somewhere only you can reach.
Each of these is asked for only when it is needed, and the app works without any of them — you will simply lose the part that depends on it.
Nothing, and there is nothing to buy inside it. There are no adverts, no subscription, and no paid version with the useful parts kept behind it.
This matters for your privacy as much as for your pocket: an app with no advertiser and no subscriber has no reason to collect anything about you, and this one collects nothing.
Uninstalling the app removes the database and every file it holds from your phone. Because there is no copy anywhere else, that is the whole of it — there is no account to close and nothing to ask us to erase.
Make a backup first if you want to keep the record.
The app is made for adults managing their own or a family member's medicines. It is not directed at children and collects nothing about anyone.
Elder Care records what you tell it and shows it back to you. It does not diagnose, does not decide whether a medicine is right for you, and does not replace your doctor or pharmacist. Where it points something out — a reading outside the usual published range, a symptom that began after a new medicine — it is stating a fact about what you entered, so that you can raise it with someone qualified to judge it.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version appears in the app when you update.
